Brilliant Bairstow and unlikely hero Overton save England in the first leg

 England centurion Johnny Bairstow and debutant Jamie Overton opened an exciting, undefeated seventh wicket of 209 from 223 to lead their faltering side to 264 for six at the end of day two of Friday's third Test with New Zealand. The imperious Bairstow has now exploded in consecutive centuries by going unbeaten on 130 balls from 126, while number eight Overton showed his true all-round qualities with an equally striking 89 balls from just 106 deliveries. England is 329 runs to 65 behind the tourists on stage one at Headingley but will be happy with their comeback after slipping to 55 for six in their answer. It is the seventh highest wicket partnership for England against New Zealand and Overton's record is the highest by an English player on his batting debut eighth or lower.  FIFA President Gianni Infantino warned Canada, Mexico, and the United States to prepare for an "invasion" of football on Thursday as the venues for the 2026 World Cup were announced. The first-ever World Cup to be co-hosted by three different countries will also feature a record number of teams, increasing by 16 from 32 to 48 as the tournament returns to North America for the first time since 1994 final. The 16 locations named Thursday include 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada. All U.S. games are held at venues that host NFL teams, such as the $5 billion SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and the New York Giants' 82,000-seat MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, which hosts the Finals should be.   NEW DELHI: India's Para-Badminton team finished the 1st Bahrain International Para-Badminton Championships in Manama with a rich harvest of 23 medals including seven gold medals. Promising doubles shuttle Manisha Ramdass was highlighted with her double gold medal, while Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan (WS SH6) and Dhinagaran Pandurangan and Sivarajan Solaimalai (doubles SH6) also picked up the other top honors for India. Top para-commuters Pramod Bhagat and Tarun Dhillon also took two gold medals each. Along with Bhagat, Manisha defeated Thailand's Siripong Teamarrom and Nipada Saensupa 21-14, 21-11 to win the mixed doubles gold medal. Manisha also put on a solid show when she teamed with Mandeep Kaur to win Gold in the SL3-SU5 Women's Doubles Final.
